When I am given a pdf file to translate and maintain its format, I always ask for the original doc file. If the client provides that, its fine, otherwise I explain that I can do the following Either 1. I deliver only the translated text without formatting or 2. I format and charge extra. Either per word or per hour. Very often the client agrees to my terms.
